Bob Tingey Past Chair of Downtown American Fork, Inc.
Heidi Rodeback [brings] tremendous value and exactly what is needed to the American Fork City Council. As I have worked with Heidi in various ways, I have always found her completely honest, objective, and passionate about important causes. Although she is very politically savvy, I have always seen her deal from a place of "What is the right thing to do?" rather than "What will make me look best or best secure my future?" I would encourage anyone who wants a better community to support Heidi.

I am delighted to hear that Heidi has decided to run for re-election. Our city desperately needs the type of critical thinking that Heidi brings to the City Council.

I want to make sure all of my neighbors know that I'm voting for Heidi Rodeback (and Dale Gunther) to remain on the city council. I think she has done a fantastic job getting our city government in a position where they can act instead of react. As I have become more aware of politics, especially local politics, I have become increasingly grateful for people with the skills (including people skills) and talents to be effective leaders. Heidi is one of those people. You know when you were in school, and you were struggling in a class and happened to get into a study group with the super-smart and organized person who saved your bacon, and the class ended up being your most favorite class ever? That's Heidi -- the super-smart-and-organized-get-things-done one. Would that all politicians were like her.

Shortly after she was elected in 2005, I visited with Heidi to share my concerns about American Fork's potential water shortage. She was open and listened carefully to what I had to say, and indicated that several others had visited her with the same concerns. I then observed her spend many hours one-on-one with engineers and others, always taking notes. When she had questions, she made sure that she got answers. She made our concerns hers. As I attended several of the open houses dealing with the pressurized water system, Heidi was always there, listening to city residents and engineers alike, still taking notes. I appreciate Heidi's openness, honesty and responsiveness.
Randy Morris Chairman of American Fork Steel Days, 2007-8
As Chairman of Steel Days for 2007 and 2008, I had the good pleasure of working with the City Council on several occasions as we discussed various issues surrounding the celebration. Heidi was always in those meetings. I was impressed that she was very well informed and was able to consider both sides of any argument. She was very focused on the citizens of American Fork and how they would be impacted by our decisions. Even though the issues associated with a city celebration may be considered small compared to other issues facing a growing city, she did not take them lightly and gave them her appropriate attention. I endorse Heidi Rodeback in her bid for re-election to the American Fork City Council.

One day, as I was composing an e-mail message to the mayor and city council, describing some difficulties my wife and I had faced in trying to comply with the city's yard sale ordinance and suggesting some modifications, we received an unsolicited visit from Councilmember Heidi Rodeback. She had already heard secondhand that something was amiss and came to investigate. She listened carefully, asked concerned questions, and took notes, stating that she wanted to understand the issue before that night's city council meeting. We were validated and relieved. This above-and-beyond response from a concerned city councilor upon simply hearing that there might have been a problem was a breath of fresh air and greatly appreciated. This the American Fork we know and love!

We on 900 East who labored for traffic calming near Barratt Elementary give Councilmember Heidi Rodeback special thanks for her unwavering support of our efforts. The speed tables are in place, our children are safer now, and we parents are much relieved.

I proudly support Heidi in her efforts to make American Fork a most pleasant place to live. At the top of my current list is completing the Pressurized Irrigation System. I appreciate Heidi's expertise and concern.

I ran into Heidi at the grocery store, and she was choosing her brand of toilet paper with a calculator. This is the kind of person I want watching my city budget!

I want to add my stamp of approval and endorse your candidacy for American Fork City Council. Observing your involvement with Greenwood Neighbors convinced me of your passion for community service. I know you care about your fellow citizens and the programs that will ensure a bright future for our city. Your positive contributions of the past four years are a precursor to what we may expect in the next four years after you are re-elected. Thanks for caring about and giving voice to those of us living on the other side of the tracks. I appreciate your advocacy in our behalf. Good luck and continue to boldly face the challenges ahead.
Garry Scoville Former Chairman of the Board, American Fork Library
I was pleased to work with Heidi on the American Fork Library Board and found her thoughtful and prudent and wise. She is aware of so many funding needs throughout the city, but she's not a big spender. She balances competing needs carefully and well. Heidi has always welcomed input and opinion, not just listening but taking action where possible. I know Heidi will keep working energetically for a better community for us all.

The sort of back-and-forth squabbling for which many sites are known are rare on the Web site of Heidi Rodeback, an American Fork councilwoman who means business on her sophisticated blog, heidirodeback.blogspot.com.
At least weekly, Rodeback meticulously guides her constituents through even the most complicated City Council issues with the fuss and organization of a perfectionist. (read more)

One person that amazes me is Heidi Rodeback. . . . She's committed to this community and has done something more than talk about it. This wife/mother/councilwoman/musician has done many things that make American Fork a better place. She has donated incredible amounts of time to this city as a councilwoman. . . . My acquaintance with her has helped me to see politics in a new light. [She has] spearheaded and rallied support for several important community projects, including improving parks and sidewalks; researched and written new bylaws for the American Fork Arts Council; offered her skills as an accompanist to many community concerts; and been a general advocate for the arts in our community. If that weren't enough for you to smile and say thank you to her as she passes by, she juggles this all while being a dedicated wife and mother. Heidi is the kind of person that inspires sonnets. If there is something to be learned from watching her, it is that one person can make a difference in this community. (read more)
