In the Community
- Member, American Fork City Council, 2005-present. Current assignments include the American Fork Library, the Arts Council, Public Relations, Economic Development, the Finance Committee, the Beautification / Shade Tree Committee, and the Literacy Committee.
- 2007 Utah State Citizen Forester of the Year. The citation from Utah Community Forest Council reads, "From the outset of her term as Councilperson for the City of American Fork, Heidi made it her goal of helping American Fork become a Tree City USA community. Over the past year Heidi has worked diligently toward this goal. In addition, because of Heidi's perseverence, stamina, and ability to communicate she was instrumental in getting the tree ordinance what had been discussed and set aside for many years written, approved and part of city law. Because of her passion, hard work and dedication the trees of her community will continue to provide many benefits and bless the lives of the citizens of American Fork for generations to come."
- Member, Parks Steering Committee, 2003-2005. Met regularly with city officials and contractors to oversee park upgrades and coordinate volunteer activity.
- Chair, American Fork Neighbors in Action, 2003-2004. Organized large-scale volunteer activities, public information campaigns, etc.
- Secretary, Parks Task Force. Task force united several city committees and interest groups to propose and promote park improvements.
- Board member, Downtown American Fork, Inc.
- Co-founder, American Fork Community Foundation.
- Co-founder and Executive Secretary, Greenwood Neighbors Initiative.
- Has served as a PTA officer and PTA Legislative Liaison.
Other Interesting Facts
- A native of Kent, Washington (near Seattle), Heidi moved to American Fork in 1998, after living for nine years in Ithaca, New York.
- As a professional pianist and organist, Heidi is often seen accompanying excellent choirs and soloists across the Wasatch Front. She has accompanied the Utah Children's Choir since 2002. A seasoned writer, her experience includes newspaper feature articles and a wide variety of other projects.
- She earned her BA from Brigham Young University in Russian, with a minor in German, graduating with University Honors. She was a member of the intercollegiate College Bowl team, played a lead role in a Chekhov play, and accompanied and conducted the Russian Choir.
- Heidi and her husband David are raising four children, ranging in age from four years to a sophomore at Brigham Young University.
